About the work
Confluence is a sculptural stoneware vessel by Juliana Hattu-Dorpmans. Its broad, tapering body rises to an irregular open rim, while a rounded opening passes through the front. The two sides meet above the opening, creating a distinctive silhouette from different viewing angles.
Dense, flowing marks cover the exterior, catching the light across its warm bronze-brown surface. The deeply textured walls contrast with the dark interior. Presented on its own, the work balances the presence of a vessel with the openness of a sculpture.
