About the work
Ember is a one-of-a-kind decorative ceramic vessel by Juliana Hattu-Dorpmans, made from white stoneware and finished with saggar firing. A tall, gently irregular cylindrical body rises to a shaped open rim, with two broad looped handles extending above it.
The tactile outer surface carries closely spaced, directional marks. Warm terracotta and peach tones mingle with pale clay areas and irregular charcoal-grey traces. The changing texture and colour are especially visible around the shoulder, handles and lower body.
Dimensions: 23 cm high (to the highest point of the handles) × 14 cm maximum width (including handles). Weight: 1,300 g. Material: white stoneware. Firing technique: saggar firing. Firing temperature not provided.
Decorative use only. Not intended for food, drinks or holding water. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners and soaking.
